Under The Oak Tree Designs.jpg
I set up Under the Oak Tree Designs in 2013. The name Under the Oak tree Designs came from Celtic mythology where the Oak symbolizes truth, courage, wisdom and in Celtic language the word for Oak ‘daur’ meaning ‘door’ was seen as a doorway to other worlds.
In turn, I hope to create a design that bridges the gap between your message and your audience. To create a connection to your product with a consistency staying true to your ethos, across all marketing materials from visual identity to social media posts. To establish your brand, to encourage growth and drive sales by providing a solution focused visual that exceeds expectations and gives value to your ambitions and aspirations.

Carlow Cheese.png

Carlow Cheese is a micro farmhouse cheese making business, based on a 32 hectare farm in the centre of Co. Carlow, run by Elizabeth Bradley. A flock of Lacaune dairy ewes provide the milk for a sheep cheese – 2 types – cheddar and pecorino.

A Gouda type cheese is also made using Cow’s Milk from a neighbouring farm; some of them are flavoured – Nettle, Mediterranean (sundried Tomatoes and Basil), Chilli, Fenugreek…).

Other Irish farmhouse cheeses are available at the stall, along with some of the well known AOC cheeses from the Continent.

Since the inception of the market in 2004, we have enjoyed a loyal and growing customer base. On a Saturday morning you will meet Cormac Larkin, food aficionado and cheese maker with Coolattin/ Mt. Leinster Cheddar.

Prism.jpg

Prism Jewellery is owned and created by me, Martene. I am a native of Carlow town and my background was originally in science. I have been making handcrafted artisan jewellery for a number of years; it started out as a hobby but very soon developed into a small business.

I am passionate about my craft and the main objective of my business is to make one-off pieces that are affordable to everyone.

I use lots of different materials in the creation of my jewellery – precious metal clay (pure silver), polymer clay, copper sheet, aluminium and even humble paper.

Colour, prisms and rainbows are the inspiration for my work. Each handcrafted item is a unique piece but I also do custom pieces, if requested. My jewellery is light, so even though some pieces are large they are easy to wear. They would make ideal and not very expensive gifts to suit all occasions I can be found on Instagram @prismjewellery.ie_carlow. Pictures and reels, showing the pieces that I make, are posted there on a weekly basis. At the moment, I dont sell online because I prefer to meet my customers in person. To that end, my jewellery is on sale at the Farmers Market every Saturday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Feel free to call in and view my stand. I look forward to seeing you there.

Moyleabbey.jpg

We are an IOA certified organic fruit and vegetable farm owned by Liam Ryan and Yuki Kobayashi. We live on the farm with our two children, Kai and Mimi.  We began converting the 13.5 acre farm to certified organic production in August 2003 and achieved full organic status in August 2006.  The farm is managed by Liam with the support of Louise Rankin and Rónán MacRaois.  Yuki works as an acupuncturist and Tai Chi teacher.  We take on a paid intern each year through the OGI Internship Programme.

The land is based in the townsland of Moyleabbey, nearby to the historic Quaker village of Ballitore in County Kildare. It lies halfway between Naas and Carlow just off the old N9 (R448). It is ideal land for organic vegetable production, it has a gentle slope and is naturally very fertile having been in grassland for over 15 years. The soil is a deep loam, which is good to work in many different weather conditions.

We grow approximately 18 different crops from carrots, kale and leeks… to spinach, salad leaves and strawberries (and much more!).

Our home farm shop is every Friday from 12pm to 7pm, and we are at Carlow Farmers’ Market every Saturday from 9am to 2pm.

We also buy in the best in certified organic produce from other growers in Ireland and from Europe to supplement our own produce. This is to provide the best choice in organic produce, which many customers are unable to get elsewhere.

We are part of WWOOF Ireland ‘World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms’ and host volunteers from around the world who come to work with us to learn about organic growing and sustainable lifestyles.

We are proud to support Carlow Development Group who have been helping vulnerable people in our community throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. We donate fresh produce regularly. We also work with Teach Tearmainn (Kildare’s only specialised Domestic Violence Support Service) every Christmas. With our customers, we’ve raised money, helped raise awareness and collected Christmas gifts for the women and children who use the service.

We are passionate about growing good quality, fresh, local, organic fruit and vegetables. Please come and visit us at our home shop on Fridays (12pm to 7pm) or at Carlow Farmers’ Market on Saturdays (9am to 2pm) and try our produce for yourselves!

Two years ago I was in beautiful Ballinskelligs Co Kerry and started experimenting with natural waxes, scents and colours that were inspired by what I saw all around me. The ocean, the sky and the wonders of wild nature brought ‘Hermitage-Molly’ candles to life.

‘Bringing the Outdoors – Indoors’ is our aim. By incorporating heavenly scents with pretty colours our customers can experience the wonders of nature from their own home.

A little bit about Raquel and the ‘Hermitage-Molly’ story. I am a Emergency Nurse and work in a Kildare Hospital. I took up candle making by chance really. I was fed up of the usual supermarket candle range and not great quality scents.

The designer candles were too expensive for my candle habit so I began experimenting with different waxes, scents and colours. I was happy enough with what I was doing but within the last year people who saw my candles were asking to buy them. So, in November 2022 I named ‘Hermitage-Molly’ and posted on Instagram. I got great feedback from that and was confident enough(ish) to do a Christmas market in Kilcullen. I was using this opportunity as a sort of focus group. I wanted to know what you, the public thought of the product. It was a sell out and I was spurred on by this success to further develop the brand. Is it easy? Working full time and developing a product and a brand is tricky but hey.. if it was easy everyone would be doing it! Join me on my journey and I promise that I will deliver a superb quality product that is made with love ♡

Lily's field.jpg

Our business is called Lily’s Field, we are flower farmers based in St. Mullins, Co. Carlow. We have been trading at Carlow Farmer’s Market since 2018.

Saturday morning at the market is relaxed and friendly, there is always time for a chat and a laugh with customers and fellow stall holders.

We trade from late March to the end of September and also in the run up to Christmas each Saturday in December.

Our fresh flower season starts in late March when our autumn planted bulbs come in to flower – Narcissi and Anemones are soon followed by tulips and Ranunculi. During this time we are also busy sowing seeds that will provide our extensive range of beautiful brightly coloured flowers all summer long.

Seasonality is at the core of our business and we place a strong emphasis on protecting the natural environment. We keep our business local and avoid using harmful pesticides on our crops.

In addition to our beautiful fresh flowers we also sell dried flower arrangements, bouquets and wreaths etc.

To supplement our fresh flower business we also sell dried flowers and a small number of plants, cards and other flower related products, all of which are available on a Saturday morning at our stall or alternately can be purchased through our website http://www.lily’sfield.ie

It goes without saying (but say it anyway) that we particularly enjoy our mornings at the market   – it’s a very positive experience for us as we have many loyal customers who visit most Saturdays.

Should you have any floral requirements we would be delighted to meet you at the stall, or you can call us on 086 4031052 or email shirley@lilysfield.ie. Examples of our work can be viewed on Instagram and Facebook

The Haggart.jpg

The Haggart is a family-owned fruit and vegetable farm located in Clonegal, Co. Carlow. Founded in 2017 with a strong focus on sustainable and regenerative practices, our farm sits on a fertile stretch of land that has been cultivated for generations.

The Haggart is the brainchild of James and Jessica Murphy, a couple with a deep passion for farming and a commitment to sustainable agriculture. They realized early on that traditional farming methods were not sustainable in the long run, and that there was a need for a more responsible and regenerative approach to farming.

With this in mind, James and Jessica embarked on a journey to create a farm that would not only produce high-quality fruits and vegetables, but also promote biodiversity, soil health, and ecological balance. They adopted a range of regenerative practices, such as crop rotation, cover cropping, and minimal tillage, to ensure that the soil remained healthy and productive.

Today, The Haggart is a thriving farm that produces a wide variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the year. We grow everything from heirloom tomatoes and kale to strawberries and blueberries, using only natural and sustainable methods. Our produce is sold locally, and we take pride in providing our customers with fresh, healthy, and delicious food.

At The Haggart, we are committed to promoting sustainable agriculture and educating people about the benefits of regenerative farming practices. We believe that by working with nature rather than against it, we can create a more sustainable and resilient food system for future generations.
